Understanding Marketplaces – How Entrepreneurs

can build the next Uber

The Harvard Club of Victoria and King & Wood Mallesons cordially invite you to a presentation on Monday 10th December 2018.

Over the past twenty years, entrepreneurs have created and captured enormous value by launching new marketplaces such as Airbnb, Alibaba and Uber.  There have also been failures as entrepreneurs developing an “Uber for XXX” have failed to mobilise critical mass of participants and create “liquid” marketplaces.  Fundamental economic principles guide the design, launch and management of marketplaces – and applying them can enhance your chances of success.

Professor Scott Duke Kominers will provide examples of and insights into how successful marketplaces are created and how economic principles can be applied to improve the efficiency of markets for everything from used cars to donated food.
