First Annual HCV Sports Lecture

HCV members and guests are warmly invited to attend a very special event: the First Annual HCV Sports Lecture, generously hosted by Hall & Wilcox.

To launch its exciting new program of annual sports lectures, the Harvard Club of Victoria is offering Members a truly unique opportunity: the chance to hear from a panel of leading sports administrators who have agreed to speak about two key issues affecting the direction and public face of sport in Australia.

Exploring the dynamic landscape of domestic and international growth, and sharing their insights into the controversial area of damage control in sport, are representatives of four of Australia’s major sporting codes:

  • Bart Campbell (AMP 179), Chairman, Melbourne Storm
  • Brian Cook (AMP 184), CEO and Director, Geelong Football Club, and Adjunct Professor in Sport Management, Deakin University
  • Paul Docherty (AMP 189), Chairman, Melbourne Rebels
  • Anthony Everard, Executive General Manager, Fan Engagement, Cricket Australia. Anthony completed the HBS program The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports in 2017.
  • David Stevenson, Director and GM China & India, Head of Audiences, Products and Innovation, AFL.

The discussion will be moderated by Spencer Kassimir (OPM 48). Spencer graduated from HBS’s OPM 48 program and, since moving to Australia, has worked in the domestic sports industry and on international projects in the US, China and Europe. He currently heads up the sports lighting company SportsBeams Australia.
Spencer was Rugby League’s Tom Brock Scholar for 2017–18, and has been a featured sports expert/analyst and repeating guest on Australia’s ABC Grandstand and on ESPN Los Angeles.

Join us for what promises to be a thought-provoking exchange of views, as some of our most influential sports administrators lead us through some very topical territory!

Please note: Attendees must maintain strict confidentiality with regard to the views expressed by the panel members in the course of this event. Accordingly, any and all audio or video recording is strictly prohibited.
