HCV AGM and Annual Dinner
The Council of the Harvard Club of Victoria, is delighted to invite to invite HCV members and guests to the club's annual dinner in support of the Non-Profit Fellowship, immediately after the Annual General Meeting, on Thursday 29th of October.
We are excited to announce that our guest speaker will be Julian Burnside AO QC.
Julian Burnside is a barrister, human rights advocate, author and past president of Liberty Victoria. He is well known for his staunch opposition to the mandatory detention of asylum seekers, and has provided legal counsel in a wide array of high-profile cases. He represented Liberty Victoria in an action against the Australian Government over the Tampa crisis and has acted in several major cases on behalf of Indigenous Australians. He is an Australian Living Treasure and recipient of the Australian Peace Prize, and was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2009 for service as a human rights advocate.
We will also hear from 2015 HCV Fellow Paul Ronalds, CEO of the Save the Children. Paul will share his experiences at Harvard and that of the other recipients Carmel Guerra of the Centre for Multicultural Youth and Simon Ruth from the Victorian AIDS Council.
The program will also include a wonderful auction and raffle with priceless items in support of the Non-Profit Fellowship.
Catch up with old friends and meet new members of the Harvard community at the Club’s biggest event of the year. It is a warm and welcoming event, with alums attending from almost every school of the University.
