Please join us at this lunch time event featuring the creator of the concept behind the 2016 Australia-China Trade Report, “The Long Boom: What China’s Rebalancing Means for Australia’s Future”.
 
Commissioned by the Australia China Business Council, the Report has been produced as a joint initiative between the teams at Monash Business School and the Australian Centre for Financial Studies.

Over lunch, you will be meet with Monash Business School’s Professor Edward Buckingham who will share the assumptions, forecasts and implications contained within the Report and the biggest opportunities for Australian businesses looking to engage with China. In addition, you will meet Matthew Schofield, one of Shinewing Australia’s leading Sino-Australian advisors who has worked intimately on several trans Australian-China business relationships and transactions valued in excess of A$1b. Matthew will share with us key insights and identified capabilities to seize the opportunities for growth that are on the horizon.



Professor Edward Buckingham
Director, Engagement - Monash Business School

Edward graduated with a BSc in Materials Science and a BA (Hons) in Indonesian Literature from Monash University. After graduating from Monash, Edward continued with post graduate China studies at the Johns Hopkins Nanjing Center. He also holds an MBA from INSEAD. His PhD, from SOAS, the University of London, focused on organisational boundaries and business strategy in Indonesia. 

Prior to joining Monash Business School, Edward spent two years Nottingham University's Business School in Ningbo, China. His professional background includes both corporate and academic roles. Edward has been Director of INSEAD's Executive MBA programs (France, Singapore the UAE and Beijing); Manager, Schlumberger Business Consulting Group (UK, France, Gabon, Pakistan and Russia); and Associate Consultant, Boston Consulting Group (China). After his MBA he was Directeur Général of Airsec SAS (now part of Clariant) a French company that pioneered desiccant packaging for the pharmaceutical industry. Edward's areas of expertise are strategy, entrepreneurship, international business and change management. 
 


Matthew Schofield
Partner, Assurance and Advisory Services - ShineWing Australia
Matthew has over 20 years' experience in delivering assurance and advisory solutions. An agribusiness and energy and resources sector specialist, Matthew is the National Leader of ShineWing Australia’s Agribusiness Industry Group and the Global Leader of the Praxity Alliance’s Energy and Mining Group.
 
An expert on doing business with Asia, he has advised on some of the largest direct investments into Australia from China and has extensive experience in IPO’s both in Australia and abroad, as well as due diligence assignments and mergers and acquisitions.

In his role as a registered company auditor, Matthew has extensive experience in the audit of small and mid-cap ASX listed Companies, and large Chinese enterprises and their Australian based subsidiaries.
