Members and guests are welcome to join this special presentation by Harvard Professor and our fellow Australian David Haig. David is eminently qualified to bring this topic to life on three grounds.  He is the Chair of the Committee on Australian Studies at Harvard, so he has a great understanding of the activity of recent Gough Whitlam and Malcolm Fraser Visiting Professors of Australian Studies and their impact on the Harvard community. He is also a convener of current Australians at Harvard, both undergraduate and graduate school students, at dinners and other occasions throughout the academic year.  And he is undertaking a special historical study of the earliest attendees of Harvard from Australia, and their stories are fascinating.

David’s talk will focus on his research into those earliest attendees (from Melbourne). He will also provide brief remarks (and answer questions) about how Australians continue to have a strong presence and impact at Harvard.

The evening will commence at 5:30 with drinks and finger food and informal conversation. David’s talk will commence at 6:15, to be followed by a question and answer session.

The venue is generously provided by Allens law firm, and we thank them for their support.
