Beyond Bars: Corporate and Educational Roles in Second Chances
Join us for our fourth Lunch Series event of 2024! The Lunch Series provides an opportunity to hear learnings from those that have recently returned from Harvard and from alumni that are having a positive impact on the world.
Hear from Jennifer about how her learning and research on adult development at Harvard led her to work on the mission of Second Chances in Australia/NZ.
People who are justice-impacted are often invisible/stigmatised in society. What is the role of education and corporate involvement in the mission of 'second chances'? How do we create meaningful opportunities for people in incarceration? How does one engage in critical reflection and liberatory education in a carceral setting? How do we engage in deep transformative impact for individuals and their communities? It takes a village to raise a child; it also takes a village to change lives.
Jennifer is an interdisciplinary, multi-hyphenated individual. After successfully exiting her education business in China, Jennifer undertook a Master’s at Harvard in Education and now focuses on the intersection of social impact, research and AI for the advancement of human kind. She spends her time as a Research Fellow/Advisor at Georgia Tech’s AI Institute (latest project including AI student engagement tool for increasing teaching and social presence) and Chief of Staff at a nonprofit, Take2 - an organisation that helps to give incarcerated individuals a second chance via technology training and job opportunities.
